More than a third (36%) of adults who are married or in a serious relationship report that money is the single biggest source of stress in their relationship, according to a 2018 Harris Poll/Ally Bank survey. Often, friction can occur when one partner is a saver and the other a spender.

Most people invest and try to anticipate (or guess) what the stock market, bond market, and interest rates will do, and then change their investment strategy based on where they think the markets are headed. This is a flawed strategy. People who invest based on where they think the stock market, interest rates, or energy prices will go — pick just about any economic variable — will soon become very frustrated.

Our last show was about setting early New Year’s Resolutions — the simple things you can do improve your physical and fiscal well-being. Now that the holiday cheer has subsided somewhat, and the decorations have been put away for another year, let’s talk about why most resolutions don’t stick.
